Women's Health Week

My Personal Journey

In light of women's health week, as part of Herban Myth's team, I've decided to shine light onto my own health journey, habits and routines that keep me feeling fresh, energised and healthy.

Morning Routine

Mornings are sacred to me. They are the start of one's day hence they set the tone and speed on how the hours are going to continue. Here's how I start my days.

Warm Lemon Water

Upon waking up and right after brushing my teeth, I have 2 cups of warm water with lemon. It's a great way to clear and wake up your gut and the rest of your body.

Aromatic Candle

I usually light up a candle in the morning, which brings in a beautiful scent and creates an atmosphere in my room, starting the day with a gift to myself.

Meditation

Prior to touching any technological devices or news, I gift myself 10 mins in silence or listening to a guided meditation. For me, that's a way to clear my thoughts and start fresh and focused with the daily tasks ahead.

Body Fuel

I'm not a big breakfast person, but if I feel a little hungry, I'll whip up a protein shake that energises me and gives me the right nutrients for the day. My shakes usually include some type of berry, almond milk, matcha, moringa, husk fibre and whatever other superfood I decide to sprinkle into it.

Affirmations

I like to focus on the feeling I like to experience throughout the day or on what I want to attract that day- be it social moments, bliss, energy or work opportunities. I meditate on these for a couple of minutes, making sure I sit in this energy for the rest of the day.

Supplements

During the flu season, I like to make sure I am taking a number of supplements that help my body and system feel strong and vital. Here is the list of my must-haves:

-Vitamin C

-Vitamin D

-Biotin

-Shark liver oil (does wonders to one's immunity)

-Turmeric (best had in a turmeric latte or golden milk)

Hair Care

I'm not one of those people who don't naturally have super thick and strong hair. It's just what I've won from the gene lottery, hence I need to take extra care of my hair in order to keep it shiny, healthy and as thick as possible.

Here's my go-to mask for shiny, vital hair.

Essential oils hair mask

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp rosemary oi
  • 1 tbsp almond oil
  • 1 tbsp jojoba oil
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp tea tree oil
  • 1 tbsp peppermint oil
  • glass bottle/jar

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients and store in a glass container. Apply to hair from roots to ends and sit with it for at least 30 minutes. It's best to cover your head with a shower cap or a towel. Rinse out, wash with shampoo and conditioner and enjoy the shine!
