Coffee Scrub Made At Home
Coffee scrubs are known for their exfoliating properties and can help to rejuvenate and refresh the skin. When I first made my personal scrub I was sure it's not so good, but then I was surprised by the result. Since then I'm using my own body scrubs.
Here’s a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans (preferably fresh and organic)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup coconut oil (melted) or olive oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or cinnamon (optional for fragrance)
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional for extra skin nourishment)
Instructions:
1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, mix the ground coffee and brown sugar. The coarse texture of coffee and sugar makes an excellent exfoliant.
2. Add Oils: Slowly pour in the coconut oil or olive oil, and mix thoroughly. The oil is hydrating and binds the coffee and sugar together.
3. Add Extras: If you’re using vanilla extract, cinnamon, or vitamin E oil, add them at this stage and mix well. These can add a pleasant scent and additional skin benefits.
4. Jar It: Once the mixture is well combined, transfer it to a clean, dry jar. Seal the jar tightly.
5. Label It: Don’t forget to label your jar. You can get creative with this, adding instructions, benefits, or a catchy name for your scrub.
How to Use:
- Wet your skin in the shower and apply the coffee scrub.
- Massage the scrub on your skin in circular motions, focusing on areas that need extra exfoliation, like elbows, knees, and feet.
- Leave it on your skin for a few minutes to absorb the oils.
- Rinse off thoroughly.
Tip I'm using even the already used coffee from my machine.
- Always do a patch test before using a new skincare product.
- Be careful as oils in the scrub can make the shower floor slippery.
- Coffee scrubs are generally safe but avoid using on broken or inflamed skin.
This scrub is not only great for personal use but can be a thoughtful, handcrafted gift for friends and family.
