Homemade herbal Bath Bombs
Looking for simple recipe for Bath Bombs?
Let's do this...
Here's a basic recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup baking soda
-
1/2 cup citric acid
(can be found in the baking or canning section of most grocery stores) - 1/2 cup Epsom salt
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
-
2 tablespoons dried herbs or flowers of your choice
(e.g., lavender, chamomile, rose petals) -
2 tablespoons carrier oil
(such as almond oil or coconut oil) - 1 teaspoon water
-
10-15 drops essential oil of your choice
(optional) -
Food coloring
(optional)
Instructions:
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, cornstarch, and dried herbs or flowers.
Mix well to ensure even distribution of the ingredients. -
In a separate small bowl, mix the carrier oil, water, essential oil, and food coloring (if using).
-
Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients, whisking continuously.
It's important to add the liquid mixture gradually to prevent the citric acid from activating too early. -
Once all the ingredients are combined, the mixture should hold together when pressed. If it's too dry, you can add a little more water, but be careful not to add too much as it may cause the bath bomb to fizz prematurely.
-
Take a small amount of the mixture and squeeze it in your hand. If it holds its shape, it's ready to be molded. If it crumbles, you can spritz a bit of water and mix again until it reaches the desired consistency.
-
Fill both halves of a bath bomb mold with the mixture, packing it tightly. Press the halves together firmly and gently twist to release the bath bomb. If you don't have a mold, you can also shape the mixture into balls with your hands.
-
Place the bath bombs on a tray or parchment paper and allow them to dry and harden for at least 24 hours. During this time, avoid touching or moving them.
-
Once the bath bombs have hardened, you can store them in an airtight container or wrap them in plastic wrap or tissue paper for gifting.
To use the bath bombs, simply drop one into a warm bath and enjoy the fizzy, fragrant experience.
Remember to be cautious when using essential oils and choose ones that are safe for skin application. It's also a good idea to do a patch test if you have sensitive skin or any allergies.
