Propolis Tincture

Propolis Tincture for Nasal Health Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of propolis resin
  • 1 cup of high-proof alcohol (e.g., ethanol or vodka)
  • Glass jar with a tight-sealing lid
  • Dark glass dropper bottle for storage

Instructions:

1. Prepare Propolis:
- Break the propolis resin into small, manageable pieces. This helps in better extraction.

2. Combine Ingredients:
- Place the propolis pieces in the glass jar.
- Pour the high-proof alcohol over the propolis, ensuring it covers the resin completely.

3. Seal and Shake:
- Seal the jar tightly and give it a good shake to ensure the propolis is well-submerged in the alcohol.

4. Steeping Process:
- Place the sealed jar in a dark, cool place for about 2 to 4 weeks. This allows the alcohol to extract the beneficial compounds from the propolis.

5. Shake Periodically:
- Shake the jar periodically during the steeping process to enhance the extraction.

6. Strain the Tincture:
- After the steeping period, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl. Discard the propolis residue.

7. Bottle the Tincture:
- Using a funnel, transfer the strained tincture into a dark glass dropper bottle for convenient storage.

How to Use:
- For nasal health, dilute a few drops of the propolis tincture in a saline solution or distilled water.
- Use a clean dropper to apply a couple of drops into each nostril.

Note:
- Propolis may cause an allergic reaction in some individuals. Perform a patch test before using the tincture regularly.
- Consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have known allergies or are pregnant, before using propolis.
